LAST WEEK'S ROUND UP: The majority of business took place on 
Wednesday and Thursday last week. Southern live deals ranged 
from $106 to $109, mostly $108, roughly $0.50 lower than the 
weighted averages of the week before. Northern dressed trade 
had a range of $165 to $170, mostly $169, about $1 lower than 
the prior week's weighted average basis Nebraska. According 
to Thursday's Mandatory summary reports weekly accumulated 
average price totals are as follows (the prior week's 
weighted averages are listed in parentheses): KS $108.00 
($108.54); NE $168.64($169.73); TX $108.12($108.91); IA 
$168.05($169.54); CO Not available due to confidentiality, 
but private sources reported sales at $108.

The Friday afternoon Mandatory reports showed weekly trade 
volumes as follows: KS 15,995; NE 33,593; TX 7,848; IA 
34,315; CO not available due to confidentiality. Friday's 
slaughter was estimated at 116,000 head, 4,000 more than the 
week before, and 8,000 greater than a year ago. Saturday's 
kill was estimated at 62,000 head, bringing the weekly total 
to 654,000 head, 17,000 head above the prior week, and 11,000 
head higher than 2019. 

DTN MORNING COMMENTS:  The country is typically quiet this 
Monday morning with both buyers and sellers busy taking 
inventory. Bids and asking prices are not established, and 
significant trade volume may be delayed until Wednesday or 
later. Beef cutouts are expected to be lower with generally 
light box movement.

For the week ending October 10, 2020, Imported Beef Passed for 
Entry in the U.S. totaled 37,136, 87.18% of the previous week 
and 90.73% of the 4-week average.
